Maps of the Project Area

Maps of the area around your school are one of the best tools you have to identify the problems and evaluate the potential solutions.

Maps can be as simple as a drawing:

Or as complex as the fanciest GIS output but what they must have is the location of all the hazards and safety features in the area.

One of the easiest ways of completing a map is to allow the students that use the roads and paths to indicate where they feel unsafe.

Use the biking and walking checklists to have your students make an inventory of the hazards around your school.
